Stem usually < 5 cm tall, to 5 cm in diameter, rarely branching.

Leaves  oblong-oblanceolate, acute or shortly acuminate, 15 – 25 x 5 – 10 cm, thick, rigid, margins somewhat upturned and often finely undulate-crenulate, white-pruinose, sometimes nearly or entirely green, margin and mucro reddened.

Inflorescences 1 - 2, narrowly cymose-paniculate, to 1 m tall, ±  15 mm in diameter near base, to 12-branched, each branch with 1 – 7 flowers, pedicels stout, 2 - 5 mm.
花序：1-2支，稀疏的圆锥聚散花絮，最高1m，基部直径15mm左右，最多12根分枝，每支约1-7朵花；花梗短粗，2-5mm长。

Flowers : Sepals ascending, to 25 mm, corolla urceolate, pentagonal, to 25 mm long, 14 mm in diameter or more near the base, ± 20 mm in diameter at the tip, glaucous, pink to scarlet, nectar scales scarlet.
花：花萼上翘，约25mm；翁状花冠，五角形，约25mm长，14mm直径，基部直径可能更大，顶部直径20mm左右；被霜；粉色或猩红色；蜜腺鳞片（？）猩红色。

Until its description in 1997 Echeveria cante erroneously has been distributed as E. subrigida. This means that hybrids with E. subrigida as one parent created prior to 1997 in fact are hybrids with E. cante.
