Distribution: Mexico (widely distributed and rather common in North Oaxaca and South Puebla).

Stems to 20 cm long, much-branched, irregularly angular.

Leaves, bracts, sepals and outside of petals minutely papillose.

Leaves subrosulate to scattered, obovate-cuneate, acute, to 5 x 1,5 cm, ± heavily marked with purplish-red on both faces and along margins, rarely entirely green.

Inflorescences racemose, to 30 cm, pedicels to 5 mm.

Note :
This species is much more variable than the description implies. There are forms with sessile rosettes, green plants are not really rare, but on the other hand stem growing plants are often not much-branched.
